Getting Pregnant After An Abortion

Will I be Able to Get Pregnant?

Having conceived in the past then it's safe to say that yes, this is a good sign that your fallopian tubes are open and you ovulate.

The down side is that the process of D&C (Dilation and Curettage) can sometimes cause damage aby causing scarring either inside the uterus or at the top of the cervix . A procedure called hysteroscopy, when a small camera is passed through your cervix into your uterus, can be used to check for this problem. Sometimes scar tissue can be repaired at the same time.

Any procedure that dilates the cervix also weaksens it so having more thanone abortion can cause what is called Cervical Weakness. Thismeans that you are at a higher risk finding your cervix dilating prematurely during your pregnancy.

In some cases, this can be treated with a cerclage, which is a special stitch used to keep the cervix closed.
