Help - Buprenorphine (Subutex & Suboxone) In Pregnancy & Lactation

As I researched the latest information about Buprenorphine (Subutex and Suboxone) in pregnancy and breastfeeding, I was shocked to find the number of inaccurate and out of date details about it's use.

This is unacceptable.

Mother's (and concerned family) who are trying to make a better life are unknowingly making decisions on the bad info.

This is a traumatic time in the mother's life - fear of the unknown can drive the even strongest crazy.

These mothers have sooo many questions that can't always be answered but they will find great comfort can be found in information from their peers that starts with:

"Typically...."

"This is what they did for my baby...."

"Sometimes they like to...."

"Normally they do this...."

And so, I would like to set up an online support network with your help. (I'm dreaming bigger...but let us start here.)

I would like to arrange for regular email contact between the expectant mother and the "been there, done that" mother.

I would like this to occur under the supervision of either neonatal Nurses or Doctors who are compassionate really know their stuff.

I know, I know...if these mother's need accurate info then they should see their Doctor - but it doesn't work like that.

If you have ever worked with neonates then you have see the number of NAS babies come and go untreated as their mothers hide behind a veil of secrecy.

You recognize the symptoms...you may even be certain in your own mind of what that baby is going through, but some mothers fear what will happen if the confess.

A non judgmental network of those who have lived it (and those who have dedicated their lives to helping patients) will bring these mothers out of hiding and get their babies the care they need.

In addition there are other mothers are overwhelmed with fear of the unknown, full of burning questions - these mothers are at risk of depression...

So, if this sounds like something you would benefit from...

Or if this sounds like something that you can contribute to then...
